TASK:

Each week one team member from each group will need to film and record the rehearsal process for their allocated week.

The team member allocated for that week, will then create a short movie using the imovie software as a 'visual diary' for your playbuilding task. The culmination of each team member's short movies will be combined to create a team 'visual diary' of the rehearsal process. This will in turn help you evaluate and critically appraise the content of both the performances and processes of the final product by providing you with a clear and 'visual' picture.

STEPS:

  1. Nominate the weeks each member of the group will be allocated to record the rehearsals.
  2. Check that the video camera is free for that week (there are 3 available at the school) and put your name down for the use of the camera for the days required. If you have a camera that you can use from home then please feel free to use that instead. You will just need to make sure you have the correct USB connections so that you can then download all the footage onto the computer.
  3. Film both rehearsal sessions for the week.
  4. Download all the footage from the camera to your laptop using the USB connection.
  5. The footage will automatically download to your imovie application
  6. Go through the footage and select and drag the footage you would like to use into your 'new project'
  7. Be sure to 'edit' any unnecessary selections
  8. Once you have edited and dragged all the clips into your 'new project' then you can begin to get creative
        • Add transitions
        • Divide scenes
        • Add music tracks
        • Place text
  9. When you have finished creating your masterpiece, export it to your desktop and add it to our youtube collection!

        • Password: xxxxx

Have a look at the clip I created with some younger students from a year 6 drama class. This movie is much shorter in length than your movies will be but gives you an idea of the sorts of things you can do.

OUTCOMES:

  1. The movie must contain the elements of your rehearsals, production values and ideas in a clear and concise way.
  2. The duration of the movie must be no longer than 15 mins
  3. Each group must submit their films by the due date as indicated on the Playbuilding Calender
